Comments disabled because I’ve moved! My new account is :iconotterkit:. See you there! ~

I wanted to wait a bit longer to reveal my Hetalia fancharacter, but today is her birthday (anniversary of statehood) so I figured what the hey! :D I tried to draw her in Himaruya's chibi style, and I think it turned out very similar. What do you think?

I know that a LOT of Hetalia fancharacters are girls, and they usually fail epically. I assure you I am trying my very best to avoid Sue-ness, and I would greatly appreciate any constructive criticism if anyone would be willing to take the time!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MICHIGAN!!! I LOVE YA!!!

:iconmichiganplz:BIO
Birthday: January 26, 1837
Likes: Nature, cereal, fudge, cars, hunting, fishing, Motown, winter and water sports, soda pop, apples, cherries, mittens, her pet wolverine
Dislikes: Ohio's sports teams, demanding tourists, overforesting, pollution, zebra mussels and lampreys, her poor economy, people who whine about the cold, splinters, mosquitoes (as if there was anyone who actually DID like mosquitoes :sarcasm:)
Weakpoint/vital region: Her wrists. Her left hand is the Upper Peninsula, and her right hand is the Lower Peninsula. If circulation gets cut off to her hands, she dies. (I'm exaggerating, but it does make her incredibly weak because it cuts her off from America.) Tugging on her ahoge, which represents Mackinac Bridge with Mackinac Island at the end, has no effect other than experiencing the taste of fudge in your mouth.
Personality: An avid outdoorswoman and automotive enthusiast. She isn't the very smartest of America's adopted siblings (most of whom consider her a backwoods hillbilly), but what she lacks in education she makes up for in ingenuity and determination. Generally quite down-to-earth and realistic. Not very friendly towards strangers. Actually, she can be downright cold and rude. It takes her awhile to warm up to people. She is introverted, solitary individual who enjoys peace and quiet. But when America needs her, she becomes a feisty little fireball, every bit as perilously brave, spirited, and loud as her beloved big bro. Michigan can also be very competitive and is constantly trying to outdo Ohio in every and any way possible. She adores her pet wolverine, Precious, and loves nothing more than going for a walk in the woods with him (yes, Precious is a 'him' :XD:).
History: Discovered as a little girl and raised by France, Michigan was later lost to England, then forgotten about until after the Revolutionary War, when she was rediscovered by America and became his 26th adopted sibling. She was a great help to him during the War of 1812, and her contributions during the Civil War were credited (by no less than President Lincoln himself) to turning the tides of war in favor of the Union. During the turn of the century, she spent a lot of her time making European-inspired furniture. Nowadays, she spends most of her time building automobiles, mining copper, tending to her nuclear power plants, making breakfast cereal (which, she is proud to point out, she invented herself), and growing crops. The uniform she wears is from the Polar Bear (or Russian) Expedition of WWI, when she and her soldiers traveled with Canada to Russia to help Russia fight off rebels and Germany. Lately she's been struggling with the worst economy in the country, which doesn't seem to get better no matter how hard she works. :(
Relationships: She remains particularly close to Canada, but can barely remember France. She apparently had a crush on the Netherlands when she was little and named a city after him (Holland). Germany and Poland had the largest hand in her upbringing of any other outside countries, teaching her to make cars and farm respectively. Prussia visited a few times, but never really did anything of real significance. Michigan has recently made a shaky business arrangement with Mexico, who now works alongside her, but is unsure how to handle it because many of her citizens don't approve. Her business arrangements with Japan in the auto industry have fared much better, with both sides benefiting mutually. Can't stand Ohio, and is frequently irritated by Illinois with his rich tourists and his tendency to copy all her city names, but is very close to Indiana, a fellow woodsperson. Lately, her little sister Wisconsin has been annoying her, but they usually get along (though each thinks the other is weird). She loves America, of course, and literally can’t live without him – her economy is so bad she couldn’t sustain herself for a minute.
