By noon they were well into the flatlands. Tye dogtrotted along tirelessly, but the hot sun and rough terrain was taking its toll on Sciuro. Great beads of sweat cascaded down his forehead as he stomped along behind the otter, complaining with every step. “I was built for woodlands, not this lot! Huh, flatlands? There ain’t a paw’s length o’ flat ground in all the land! There ain’t even a single tree as far as the eye can see t’ give us a bit o’ shade t’ rest in! I’m roastin’ alive, an’ we’ve been marchin’ all day!”
